Oh, happy, blessed Easter morn,
Oh, day of faith and hope reborn,
How bright the day, how warm the sun
To cheer the hearts of everyone!
Is this the selfsame sun that shone
And glinted on the rolled-back stone?
How sweet the smell of spring's warm breeze
Now moving through the budding trees.
Were floral-scented breezes there
To stir His robe and touch His hair
When first He came forth from the tomb
As new life from a mother's womb?
How proud the yellow tulips grow
From bulbs that slept neath winter's snow.
Did hyacinth and crocus nod
Along the path that Mary trod?
The robin's voice now singing out
Shouts "Resurrection!" all about.
A sound more sweet than birdsong came
To Mary when He spoke her name.
In sun and flowers, birds and breeze--
His presence lives in such as these.
Oh, happy, joyful Easter morn;
New life, new faith, new hope are born!
